Extra-Curricular Clubs

We run a variety of extra-curricular clubs during school hours and after school for children in Reception – Year 6.

The choices of club changes termly and children have opportunity to sign up to a new club at the start of each term.

We provide a range of clubs that will appeal to different children so that every child can find a club of interest.

MUSIC

At Grange School, music plays an integral role in the holistic development of every child. Our music programme is carefully structured to nurture creativity, confidence, discipline, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Music education begins in the Nursery, where children explore rhythm and movement through singing, dancing, musical bells, Boomwhackers, and a variety of percussion instruments. These activities help to develop coordination, listening skills, and musical awareness in a fun and engaging environment.

In Reception, rhythm and movement continue to form the foundation of learning, with greater emphasis placed on percussion instruments and an introduction to the glockenspiel. Pupils learn a wide repertoire of songs and regularly participate in the AISEN Singing Festivals, providing them with valuable performance opportunities.

At Key Stage 1, children are introduced to the fundamentals of music theory while learning to play the recorder. Singing remains a central aspect of the curriculum, helping pupils develop pitch, tone, and musical expression.

At Key Stage 2, every child is given the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument. Options include:

  • Violin
  • Cello
  • Clarinet
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Saxophone

Music theory continues to be an important component of learning, supporting pupils in their instrumental and musical development.

Children in Key Stage 2 may also join the Grange School Choir, an award-winning ensemble renowned for its outstanding musicianship, expressive performances, and vocal excellence. The choir regularly participates in competitions and prestigious musical events, consistently achieving remarkable success.

The Grange School Orchestra comprises pupils who have demonstrated significant progress on their chosen instruments, typically attaining at least Grade 1 standard. The orchestra performs regularly at school events and functions, showcasing the dedication, talent, and achievements of our young musicians.

Through our comprehensive music programme, Grange School seeks to inspire every child to discover, develop, and celebrate their musical potential.

LAMDA at Grange School

At Grange School, the LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) Programme is an integral part of both our Primary and Secondary School experience. Through internationally recognised qualifications in communication and performance, students develop confidence, creativity, public speaking skills, and the ability to express themselves effectively in a variety of settings.
